24 Hours In Aspen (In The Summer)
I did not expect to fall in love with Aspen. It gave me “Soho House” in a mountain town vibe with a bit of Midwestern nostalgic (so green!) + very boujee (so many hip stores). We literally only stayed for one day on our Colorado road trip, but I’m already so excited to come back — especially in the winter! The mountains looked like rolling hills compared to Telluride’s grand snow capped mountains — but I just loved how green, green, green everything was!
Stay:
Hotel Mollie — whenever a hotel brings warm chocolate chip cookies to your hotel room at night as a night time treat, I’m immediately sold. Hotel Mollie was a beautiful boutique hotel (Japanese + Scandinavian design) that was walking distance to everything in Aspen, but in a quieter location.
The Perfect Day In Aspen, Colorado:
- Coffee at Hotel Mollie: The best coffee in Aspen, in our opinion… they use beans from LA so maybe that’s why we love it so much ; ) They also have pastries from Louis Swiss Bakery (by the airport + also a great stop if you love your pastries!).
- Yoga class at O2 Aspen: Choose from yoga, pilates, or Stretch/Meditation!
- Pastries at Felix Roasting Co: You have to Hotel Jerome simply to see a classic Aspen establishment. It was built it 1889 + was Aspen’s orginal luxury hotel. Don’t get coffee there (it tastes burnt IMO), but definitely get a pastry!
- Lunch at Bear Den Aspen: Bistro + wine bar with a very intimate, cozy vibe.
- Hike the Rio Grande Trail: 42 miles along the Roaring Fork River. It’s so gorgeous — I could have spent all day here! I loved that we were able to walk with our stroller, since it’s all paved. Smuggler Mountain Trail is another popular hiking trail in Aspen… 3 miles round trip with a beautiful view at the top!
- Walk around all the shops: Pop into every store that speaks to you!
- Dinner at Sway: Super delicious modern Thai restaurant with sharing style plates.
- *If you have more time: Take a day trip to Carbondale! Totally different vibe + so cute. Highly recommend checking out True Nature Healing Arts for a yoga class + their cafe!
- *Pro tip: We were here during the off season (first week of June), so a lot of cafes + restaurants were still closed! The farmers market is from mid June until October, so I’d recommend visiting during that time if you are going in the summer — that way hopefully everything will be open!
Did I miss any of your favorite Aspen spots? Let me know! I can’t wait to visit again during the winter — no doubt it’s a winter wonderland here!
Love,
Elisabeth
