Day Trip To Mazunte, Mexico
Mazunte is a small, laidback bohemian town on the coast of Oaxaca. We spent a weekend here [which is a perfect amount of time!] between our longer stays in Oaxaca Centro + Puerto Escondio. Mazunte is an eclectic scene — mostly young, free spirits with a hint of grunge. It’s totally worth a stop… especially if you are in Puerto Escondido — it can easily be a day trip.
Coffee: Cometa Cafe — they roast their own beans, which is always a good sign : ). Loved their cold brew!
Eat: TRIBU for tacos + CoCuCo for a hip dinner.
For Next Time: Kafe Nagaad, Icaro Cafe, Cafe Panchatantra, Motek
Explore:
- BEACH! Obviously : ) You can buy a chair with an umbrella for $5 USD + relax on the beach all day
- Watch the sunset at Punta Cometa
- Visit the National Mexican Turtle Center
- Yoga class at Hridaya
Stay: We stayed at Cocolia Hotel — while the vibes were amazing, the open air concept led to A TON of mosquito bites + it was uncomfortably hot at night, which made it hard to sleep. Plus… the service was *very* slow. I’d recommend staying at this Airbnb.
Pro Tips:
- Watch your step! I sprained my hand bad walking from our hotel to the coffee shop on a steep, dusty road.
- Bring bug spray
- Definitely do not expect good wifi : )
- IT’S HOT — pack light, breezy clothes
Have you been to Mazunte?! What did I miss?
xx
